MUST READ: Top 10 Gospel Rappers from Yola, Adamawa State Nigeria

This list was compiled based on the musical efforts and activities of these gospel rap artist who we have been following for some time and delicately gathered this information from a year ago till now.

Viewers and readers discretion is advice.

10. Mr. Dash

Also one of the few old timers in the gospel rap industry who are still working hard to remain on the radar, Mr. Dash is or 10th gospel hip pop rapper for the 2018/2019 calendar. He is an ordained pastor from one of the most musically inclined churches from Yola (Life Spring Chapel). As an old timer who have been in the game for quite some time now, Mr. Dash has been constantly working on his music and touching lives as best as he can, even though he has been a bit cool since his ordination as a pastor, which we clearly understand and reason with because combining the two ministry’s might be kindda time consuming and delicate, but despite that, he has been on his feet and has decided to maintain his position on the radar, and guess what? It work and that’s why he is our 10th man on our list.

9. Cee-Phabz

The number 9th man on our list is none other than the indigenous and captivating Cee-Phabz a.k.a Dan bambule. He is one of our favorite gospel rappers when it comes to repping the indigenous tongue of his father land from Demsa with the dialect of Mbula. Since his glorious switch from the entertainment industry, he has been doing a lot of big things for God musically and has a one gospel album to his name produced by Mr. Trust from Yola also and loads of singles to back that up. Currently he is a politician contesting for the post of member representing his constituency Demsa L.G.A, even though that the politics has been disrupting his musical career, but we are sure that he will make a huge come back this year 2019, and we wish him all the success from Heaven at the 2019 general elections.

8. Badi Kadmiel
Badi, a.k.a Black Jesus, nick named after his most popular song “Da Ni Da Yesu” is something else when it comes to on stage performance and has won himself the number 8th position on our list this season. He is electrifying and so energetic when he performs his songs on stage. This is one rapper who strongly believes that he looks 100% like Jesus in looks (even though we doubt that, lolz) and in character (we can agree with that). Since his collaboration with Cee-Phabz (who is also on our list) to bless us with his hit single “Da Ni Da Yesu”, he has been on the gospel musical radar and has been featured in some of the biggest gospel programs and event as a guest minister.

7. Gentle-AJ

Being a friend and fellow church member with Zino (who is also a rapper on our list) our number 7th man on the list Gentle-AJ’s rise to the top was quick but wasn’t surprising to us because we anticipated it due to his constant pace of hard work and enthusiasm towards his music and the work of God generally. He drops songs with intense praise to God speaking of how God lifted him and made him outstanding despite the odds. Last year 2018 was a spectacular year for Gentle-AJ and his music career as he teams up a couple of times with one of Yola’s youngest music producers Tino-Sax and they made some good music last year and therefore winning his way into our hearts and into our top 10 gospel rappers for the year 2018/2019 calendar.

6. G-Advocate.

For about 10 years now in the capital city of Adamawa state, Yola, we have been following the music and ministry of this talented and spirit filed gospel rapper Mr. Joseph with the stage name G-Advocate which stands for Gods-Advocate. With 2 Albums and loads of singles plus some music videos, Mr. Joe has been spiritually blessing and entertaining us with his music. Presently he is an “Ordained Pastor” and has been using that grace and mantle upon his life to inculcate the in-depth core of the word of God into his music. He has had the privilege to feature the undisputed champion of entertainment rappers Mr. Incredible, M.I Abaga on a song, and also had some collabs with some A-list producers from outside the state (Jos to be precise) including the likes of his favourite producer ATOMME and also in Yola like G-Ben, Timmy and Trust. Currently he is based in Benin and is doing big things for God and thereby winning himself the number 6th position on our top 10 list.

5. BUZEX

Buzex is apparently one of the oldest gospel rappers from the city of Yola, this guy has done a lot for the kingdom of God. As an individual, I know BUZEX and have been listening to his music from my childhood days. He is a member of the gospel music renowned group Y-Wap. With loads of singles produced by music producers in and outside the state, he has had a special place in our hearts and deserves the 5th position on our top 10 list, winning us over with his gospel lyrical word plays and bible based inspired songs. Currently he is based in Yola and has been collaborating with a lot of gospel rappers like McTarpha to bless us with some good music to the glory of God, among which is the amazing and soul lifting single “Bala’e.

4. Cylent

The 4th man on our top 10 list, Even though he is a born and breed son of Adamawa state, Yola, Cylent decided to move away for school outside the state and as faith would have it, he met most of his early musical success from his school days in A.B.U Zaria which is assumed to be one of the best universities in Nigeria. Currently Cylent has finally moved finally to the capital city of Nigeria Abuja, and there he got himself a record deal with the renowned gospel music record label “Christed Records” and has since then been dropping Holy Spirit filled and Heaven inspired songs upon songs one of which we like “Join Us” which has been a National Anthem to the lovers of his music. He has collaborated with a lot of music artist and music producers (though he himself is a music producer) and few of those who he has worked with are from his home state, e.g Timmy Samuel who collaborated with Cylent on his song “All Over Me” and produced “Isoko” for Cylent.

3. Zino

The 3rd man on our list is currently a business man doing well in the printing press industry. Zino is like practically the top dawgs in the gospel rap industry in Yola. He has also been in the music ministry for as long as I remember. He has worked with some of the big time Music producers from Yola, such as T-klex, Shaplex, G-ben e.t.c…… and also have collaborated on songs with soloist and rappers like McTarpha, Grace Declan, Mo-Man, Timmy, Cee-Phabz e.t.c…..  Currently he is still based in Yola, and a member of one of the most musically inclined churches in the city “House of Refuge” who hosts the biggest gospel Hip-Pop event in Yola and constantly features Zino as one of its most favourite performing artist of the event. His music ministry has a twist to it because you must just gotto love Zino, if not for his song, you will for his dance moves. H has an album to his name and loads of singles that have blessed many lives far and near. Not forgetting that he is the winner of the GOSPEL HIP POP SONG OF THE YEAR category at the 2016 edition of the EXOUSIA GOSPEL MUSIC AWARDS EGMA2016.

2. Mo-Man

Mr. Mo as I usually like calling him is one of the most famous gospel rapper and spoken word artist in Yola. Personally I think Mr. Mo-man is more of a freestyle gospel artist, even though his freestyle is the kind which gives you goose bumps all over your body as he goes. He usually don’t minister his recorded songs or singles you know of in programs and event he gets invited to, rather he allows the Holy Spirit to take control and freestyles with the inspiration he receives from above. This simple but delicate act has made Mr. Mo-Man’s music stand out and unique in the gospel music industry. Currently he is a final year student studying accounting at the Adamawa State University, in Mubi. Some of his single we love are “History of Man”, “Dan Dauda” e.t.c…

1. McTarpha

Finally the number one man on the countdown. Now McTarpha a.k.a Dan Gadara, nicknamed after his hit single way back from 2016/2017, dint just easily and comfortably walked into the 1st position in our top 10 gospel hip pop music artist for the 2018/2019 calendar, it took a lot of hard work, time and financial investment into his craft, collabs, event entry and most of all the unique way he has been using the word of God to manipulate his lyrics into his music. When you sit to listen to his music, it will be very obvious to you that minister McTarpha is one gospel hip pop musician who intensely studies his bible and infuses the goodwill message of Christ into his music. He is the winner of the VIDEO OF THE YEAR at the 2018 editions of EXOUSIA GOSPEL MUSIC AWARDS EGMA2017 for his magnificent video to his “Dan Gadara” single and also has loads of nominations and other awards even from outside the state (GOM Awards from Kaduna included). Last year 2018, McTarpha spent a fortune to make a song and video to his hit single “The Way” produced by one of Yola’s youngest producers G-Ben. In our opinion, the visuals to THE WAY is one of the few best and extraordinary music video to ever come out of Adamawa state, as directed by J-Prado Joseph of Magic City Entertainment. Rumors from our GGB (Gospel Gossip Bird) has it that he is planning an album drop at the middle of this year, featuring bunch of talented vocalist and rappers as well as music producers.
